Snacking on Fruits and Vegetables (5-8)

In this lesson SNAP-Ed Nutritionist, Wanda, will show you how to choose snacks that will help keep your body in balance, name a variety of fruits and vegetables and identify ideas for eating fruits and vegetables for snacks!

You probably won’t cover all 5 food groups in your meals–that’s okay, because you can do that in your snacks! There are a lot of choices when it comes to snacking. What’s really important is that we choose snacks that will help keep our body in balance. How do we do that?

Food can be divided into “Go,” “Slow,” and “Whoa” categories. Go foods are the best choice. They are fresh, have no solid fat, salt, or added sugar. Slow foods have a small amount of solid fat, salt, or added sugar. You should be a little more careful when eating these. Whoa foods are the most processed, and you should only eat these in moderation. They have a lot of solid fat, salt, and added sugar.

Come along and play a game where we try to guess which vegetables Wanda has on her list based on a description.
